Introduction: How I got to now.

by Jeremy on December 14, 2008

Hi everyone. My name is Jeremy Lindh, and I’m the founder of a trio of Outdoor Games websites. A little about my web history…

March of 2006. I lauched CornholePlayers.net with a friend. Oddly enough, the cornhole site started as an offshoot of another project. We were going to make videos to teach people to make cornhole boards, and the website was just going to be a means to promote them. I’d always wanted to learn to design a website, so I taught myself, just to do the site for the video project. I got the site up and running but the video project died about half way through. Our goal was just to provide helpful information to people building Cornhole boards, but in the end, a website turned out to be the answer, and not videos. Go figure…

The Cornhole site started out slow but steady in 2006. That all changed in 2007, though. The community had built a small base in it’s first Summer, but the next year it really grew. People started posting pictures of really amazing Cornhole boards, and the site has really become a showcase for people to show the results of their hard work. Watching it all unfold has been a blast for me, and after the Summer of ‘07, I wanted to find a way to build upon what I had started. It seemed the obvious choice would be a website for the game of Washers.

After planning and preparing all Winter, WasherPlayers.net launched in April of 2008. The Washers site seems pretty quiet, but it’s actually receiving more visitors than the Cornhole site did in it’s first year. Patience, I constantly remind myself. Patience.

Watching and learning from my first 2 efforts in the Summer of 2008, I decided that I had one more step to complete what I had started. I realized that a website made up of several different Outdoor Games was the way to tie things together. Through the Cornhole and Washers sites, I’d found a handful of games that I’d never seen before, but really wanted to check out. If I had an interest in these obscure games, then there must be other people who’d like to know about them, too.

I launched Outdoor Game Players in November of 2008. I love the idea of an ever expanding site where I can keep adding new games. As with anything that a person invests a load of time and energy into, I have very high hopes for it!

So now a blog?!? Yeah, it’s a little bit out there, I admit. The goal of the Outdoor Games Blog is to take tidbits of information from all 3 of the websites and bring it together in an article based format. There is a wealth of information in the Cornhole forum, but sometimes people don’t have time to sift through it all, and digest all of that information. I’ll focus on game building tips, painting and customizing discussion, and new game features.

Also, with the launch of the new Outdoor Games site, I’ve got a very busy Spring on the horizon. I’ll be building game sets for every game we feature on the OGP site. This blog
will detail the successes and failures I encounter as I attempt to build my game arsenal.

Thanks in advance to everyone who reads and follows this blog!
